Getting Ready for Christmas

No, that does not mean that everything is up. But, we are getting things ready. We have slowly been adding decorations that the kids have made (see the craft blog), but things are going to be going up shortly here!

To help with this, Brett is finally able to say that the BIG tank is ready to go. He is waiting to get a couple more lights- which should be here tomorrow, and then he can finish taking the "small" tank in the living room down. I am happy- for a couple reasons. He was so close to getting the last couple BIG tanks up- the first one, well, I have to admit- I made him move. Then the last one, well, I got sick, so he took it down to sell all the parts because we needed the money- and then ended up selling that house. So, now, he finally has THE tank. It has water, rock, and he has started to move fish and coral! So, I am happy for him. I am also happy about this- because I will have more room in the living room! And right now, this time of year, that mean, I have a space for a tree!

The kids are getting ready, making all their crafts, singing songs, reading stories. And, as much as it pains me to say- Danika has already watched both the Polar Express AND The Grinch- TWICE! And, they have been talking about the bags in my closet- A LOT! So, last night, I had to wrap their gifts! They have also been having fun with George, our Elf on the shelf!

With wrapping gifts, putting up decorations etc, comes the tree. We had an alright tree in our apartment, it fit alright in the first house, but in the second, we needed bigger. So, we got it. But, coming here, it definitely would not fit- so we got rid of it, and bought a small 2 foot tree for on our table last year. BUT- with Brett's tank gone, I can put a tree in. So, I have been looking around, and saw that most are over $200. So, today at the mall, I found our tree. It looks like an actual tree- not so fake, AND it is a slim variety, so it won't take up a ton of space, but is still 7.5 feet! The best thing, is that it was on sale, and only ended up being $90! I can't wait to put it up next weekend!

This weekend though- well, it has been 2 years since I was diagnosed on November 26 2009. Last year, I decided that from then on November 26th is our family day. It is a good day. It is our day to get Christmas ready. So, we go see Santa, we decorate (normally we will do the tree too, but this tank is still in my way!), and then we go out for dinner as a family! So, this weekend, we will do just that. We are all excited to see Santa and pull out the decorations!

We went by Santa today at the mall, mainly to give Bryce an idea of what is going on. At the mall, they have Santa's workshop set up where the kids could decorate cookies too. We just looked at Santa, we will visit him on Saturday, but so far, Bryce seems okay with it! We also got to the mall right before they opened, and were in front of the disney store waiting. Andrea had told us that she saw how they opened it one day- they pick a child who is waiting and have them turn the magical key to open the store. Today, Bryce and Landon got to do it (Danika was being shy). It was great, and they both got a small key like the big one. Bryce could care less about that, so I gave his to Danika. She kept telling him he won it for her, and he was more than happy with that. He kept saying that he won! Then telling her that he gave it to her!

We also hit a sale on fleece PJ's. I never saw or understood why parents dressed their kids the same- or close (when they aren't twins). But, I have done it a couple times, and it is cute! Anyways- they had snowman fleece PJs- so Danika got pink, and Bryce got red! They are so cute (and cuddly)- yes the kids!

Anyways- that was my quick update! Here are a few pictures from lately! I have to go see what George is up to for tomorrow's surprise!

This was how we found George this morning!
Landon and Bryce opening the store (would you guess that they aren't actually related?)

Danika was talking to me while I was taking pictures- but she is decorating her cookie!
Here they are in their matching snuggly PJs!
And the ornaments that they made today, I LOVE them and can't wait to put them on the tree!
