Hendricks Family: Summer fun bucket- activity 1

Last night before the kids went to bed, they picked an activity out of the summer fun bucket for us to do today. Danika got first pick, and she pulled out a stick that said "picnic". Well, with the rain, we weren't sure how much of a picnic we were going to get to do. But, decided to make the best of it.

Brett decided that we would go down to Prince's Island Park, and then we decided to make it a bit better and take the train down.

This morning, when we got up, it was raining! OF COURSE! So, we made the best out of it. We decided that we would get Subway from inside Eau Claire Market, and just walk around Prince's Island, still taking the train. By the time we were ready to go, the rain had stopped, and although still cloudy, it was a very nice day!

We took the train down, and walked over to Prince's Island. We started off at the new Peace Bridge. It is pretty neat! Then we walked through Prince's Island and were able to take a couple pictures and play at the park. After that, we decided to go get our lunch, and started walking over to Eau Claire. On our way we came across the area where all the Canada Geese were. I HATE these things, but the kids wanted to see them, so we walked through (I am sure I was walking faster then I ever have!). We were able to see some babies, at different stages of baby hood. There were some that were still a yellowish colour, then some still fuzzy, but grey, and then some "teenager" sized ones! I have to admit, that was cute! The kids LOVED seeing that!

Once we were through the mine field (HAHA), We walked across another smaller bridge where the "waterfall" was, and then stopped at the lagoon to sit and watch the geese swimming. Brett found one rock for Bryce to throw into the lagoon, and of course Danika wanted one. Well, she took it upon herself to find something- before we knew it- she threw goose poop into the lagoon- YUCK! Needless to say, we wiped her hands down and got out the hand sanitizer!

Once we were done there, we headed into Eau Claire, and realized that they have a huge indoor playground. So, after lunch, we played there for about an hour!

On our way back to the train, we ran into my grandpa and Marion! Crazy- we never go downtown, and still ran into them (we run into them in the strangest places!). So, we had a quick visit and then went on our way!

The kids loved the train, had fun outside, and are both so tired, bed time will be a breeze!
