YAY!! It is officially the summer of 2012! This summer, I am looking forward to many things. I think now that the kids are old enough to start remembering things, and enjoying them, I think this summer will be a good one! We will be spending some time at Calaway park and the zoo since we have passes, but, I have also planned a few other things too!
I shared this on the craft blog, so I won't go into depth here. But, we made a summer bucket list! We wrote down a bunch of things we want to do this summer- one for every day from now until the end of august- so it is like a countdown to school too! Then, each night, we will pick a popsicle stick (they are written on the sticks) out of the jar and see what we are doing the next day! And of course I will try to remember to blog about them. We have things on there like make forts, water fun day, make play-dough or goop, popsicles or even a cake! We also have places on there, like the lake, science centre, fish creek park, water parks etc. It is going to be a fun summer!
Today, to start it off, well, I slept in! Then, we cleaned the kids rooms (yeah, one took 5 minutes and the other was an hour- I will let you guess which is which!). Then, I re-hung some pictures and checked the weather- FINALLY it was going to be a nice day.
Last night we walked up to 7-11, got a treat and walked home. The kids walked all the way there, and then were in the wagon on the way back- so they could eat their candy! On our walk, we passed a nice big park. Danika has been their once before, but not Bryce (he wasn't behaving and had to stay home with Brett!). They really wanted to stop, but that candy was calling their names! So, we continued to the store with the promise of going back there today.
Yes, that is how we spent the beginning of our afternoon- at the park! My kids eat lunch a bit earlier- at about 11:30. So, when we got there, it wasn't busy, because it was lunch time! They had a great time, sliding, swinging, running, and even enjoyed me pushing them on the tire swing! A few kids came and left in the time we were there, but not many! One little girl was the type of kid that I hope mine never are. She came over to the tire swing, I had gone to get a sip of water, and she stopped it. Then told mine to get off (there are other tire swings!). Danika told her no (good for her!). So, she got on. Which is fine. I pushed all of them for a bit, but my kids were laughing (loudly, but they are allowed to outside), and she kept telling them she didn't like that, and to be quiet! So, I finally stopped pushing. The kids continued to play around the park with her, but then Bryce asked for a drink. I pulled out 2 juice boxes and she kept asking where hers was. I told her she had to ask her mom. So, she grabbed Bryce's right out of his mouth and started drinking. WTH! I asked her to give it back, and then had to take it back- but told him he couldn't drink it anymore. So Danika shared hers. Oh yeah- the mom did NOTHING! Then she was taking goldfish from our bag, and finally her mom told her it was time to go. She didn't say anything to me. I was shocked. It wasn't like we were across the park- she was on the next bench! Craziness! But, we had a great time!
After that, we walked home, and got ready to get groceries! YAY- fun hey! The kids played in the yard while I put them away, and now, after eating dinner are playing in the tub! What a great way to start the summer!
Happy summer to everyone!
