This is Bryce and his balloon. As soon as he saw a person selling balloons, he would scream that he wanted one. So, being the nice mom, I finally gave in, paid $7 for a balloon, and gave it to him. Well, we had to tie it to the stroller, so it wouldn't blow away- that pissed him off. He finally decided that would be fine- 20 minutes later- the balloon broke free from the string. Watching him watch that balloon go as far up in the sky as it could was sort of entertaining. He didn't even cry and scream until he couldn't see it anymore. (Brett did say that this was the best moment of the trip- HAHA!). We were approached by a lady who told us that they do replace them- we would have had to go to guest services, and wait, get a voucher and stand in line to get another balloon- only to have to pop it at the hotel to bring it home, and then do who knows what with it! So, we just kept the string and the two plastic Mickey heads it was tied to!
And then there was the World of Color Show. It is water, shooting up in the air, with color, and parts of movies etc reflecting on it. It all goes with music, and even fire! It was late at night, we waited on the ground for about an hour- amusing ourselves by taking funny pictures. But, it was well worth the wait!
Friday April 29 2011
Friday, Oma, Papa, Lindsay and Matthew went to Legoland for the day. So, we started the day with a swim in the pool. Bryce loved it, it is so hard to believe that last year he was scared of the baby swing at the park, and this year, he has no fear! He was jumping into Bretts arms, and having a great time. Danika and I sat in the hot tub!
After swimming for a bit, we headed over to California Adventure to start our park hopping day. We went to see the Disney Junior show, we were front row, and even though the kids didn't know all of the shows they did, they still had a great time. There were bubbles, streamers and gold coins (paper) that fell from the ceiling. It was very well done for the smaller crowd! Then we headed down the street and saw a bit of the monsters Inc production- but then noticed Mr. Incredible waiting for the line to form to meet him, so we went over. Danika wasn't sure of him- he was pretty big. But Bryce was more than excited! Then we took our last ride on the monsters Inc ride.
We headed to the pier for lunch- the kids weren't so keen on the Mexican food, but we loved it, so too bad! Then Brett took a ride on California Screamin'. We headed for a picture in the toy store toy box, and then Danika took turns with us on the jumping jellyfish ride- which I wasn't sure she would like, but she LOVED! After that we headed out of there, and over to Disneyland for a few more hours of fun!
In Disney we did some of the things the kids loved. We did the Winnie the pooh ride two more times. Then went into the treat store that was right there. Danika got a pink flower cookie, Brett got some salt water taffy, and an oreo brownie, and Bryce and I shared a Mickey Mouse cookie (basically a HUGE chocolate chip cookie in the shape of his head- with the ears dipped in chocolate, oh yeah- Bryce got the head, I got the ears!)
After spending some time watching the ducks, we headed back over to fantasyland and enjoyed two trips around storybook land- once on Casey Jr Circus Train, and then on the story book canal boats! Then we went on Its a Small World one more time.
Then we took some time to get through the line at Autopia. It was only about 25 minutes, and was worth the wait. It was great. The kids loved riding in the cars, you couldn't really see Bryce riding with Brett, but he was there!
On our way out, we saw the Buzz lightyear ride. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was so good that we went twice. You get laser guns and shoot at targets, gaining points- it became a competition for Brett and I- he did win both times, but it is on next time we go! The kids loved this ride, and so did we. We even bought Bryce a Buzz gun, and he loves it!
With one last stop at the gift shop, we were on our way out of the park. We headed over to Bretts favorite restaurant down there- Tony Roma's for dinner. It was great as usual! Then back to the hotel to get packed up!
It was a great trip, and we can't wait to take the kids back in a few years and see how things have changed- they were building many things, and we are sure that in time, some of the things that the kids weren't sure of, they will love!
We are so thankful that we were able to take this trip, and so thankful that Oma, Papa, Auntie Lindsay and Matthew were able to join us!
