Packing for four

Does anyone like packing? I did! I used to pack weeks in advance, mainly because I was so excited to be going somewhere. I used to write and re-write packing lists to make sure I had everything. I used to be able to pack way more than I needed- just incase!

Well, now, I still have to start packing a couple weeks in advance. I have to because that way I have time to get the things we need to take washed, bought etc.

I have written and re-written lists. Now I am doing it because the items on the list before are now to small, got a hole- something has happened to them!

I still pack way more than needed, but not for me.

I used to like packing for ME! Now, I am packing for all four of us. I have to make sure the kids have all nessesities- underwear, socks, outfits, changes of outfits just incase they get too dirty, spill, pee etc. I have to make sure they have changes for different weather. I need to make sure we have enough diapers, wipes, sunscreen, hair bands, items to keep them busy! I need to make sure we don't forget any item that helps them sleep.

After packing all of that, we get the left over room in the suitcases. Which really means, we get a couple pairs of shorts, a couple tops, and maybe a pair of underwear!

In my room right now, I have a carry- on backpack for me. What is in this bag- items for them, not so much as a book for me. I also have 2 carry-ons for the kids. One for each, with toys, books, coloring etc! Then I have each of their suitcases, with some of their stuff. I have a medium sized suitcase. That is holding snacks, towels, a blanket, and some other needed items. Then our giant suitcase, half of that is other items, and the other half- well the other half is all the room Brett and I get!

I remember packing for our honeymoon to Mexico. It was easy, no stress. Packed everything in one giant suitcase, and we were there for a week. Here we are, just after our 6 year anniversary, with half the space for us, but with 6 more bags!

Oh, the joys of Children!

(and yes, we are still excited to be going somewhere, I need a vacation after all of this packing!)
