May long weekend

I know it is always cold here may long weekend, but it still means something to me. Usually after may long weekend all the summer time fun activities can start. Usually after may long weekend, we don't have to check the weather to see if we can go somewhere the next weekend, or if we can cut the grass etc.

May long weekend, to me, doesn't mean camping, partying etc- it means the start of summer fun.

This may long weekend though- is a bit tougher. I know I don't have the energy to do some of those summer fun things we usually do, I can't even take the kids to the park on a whim, because our park doesn't have benches for me to sit at while they play (the things I have to think of now).

We stopped in at Riley park yesterday, to check out parking prices etc. It was hard for me. This is one of our favorite summer fun places. But the last time we were there last year (probably in September) Brett told me to make sure I had sun screen all over me- I told/asked him "Why? I am going to die of cancer someday"- to which he replied "probably, but I don't want that to happen soon"- and then this happened. But I braved my fears and away we went into the park to try to eat our lunch- it was too cold though, so we ended up eating in the truck- but I still faced that, and they have benches all over- so I guess we can always go there too!

I thought I was feeling better after doing that, but then Brett talked to his parents. They asked if we could all go to the zoo with them on Monday. I can't. I haven't been cleared by the doctors to go there, and I wouldn't be able to walk around there- I would barely make it through the parking lot. They will probably just take the kids, which will be fun for all of them, but hard for me.

I NEED to start feeling way better so I can go to all the fun summer places. It is May long weekend and time for the summer fun to start. I NEED to feel better, so I can have some summer fun with the kids. I NEED to start feeling better so I can enjoy my favorite time of the year before it ends- it doesn't last long here, and then the snow will fly again- and I HATE going out when it is cold and snowy.

In other news- we are only $75 away from our goal for the light the night walk- which of course we can go over- every penny helps! So if you want to join us for the walk, or donate to our team, please go to

Happy May long weekend!
