Our Tree

We have a tree right outside our front window. This poor tree has bothered me since we moved in. The main branch that we can see from the living room is dead. Nothing grows on it. So, we usually hang bird feeders/squirrel feeders from it. But, I know that if you cut it off and prune the tree it is better for it. Since we live in a condo, we can't do that ourselves. We have to wait for them to do it.

Well, last year, they started the trees. But told us that since we are on the inner part of the complex, our tree would not get done. They were trying to make the complex look better on the "outside". Of course, that is not very fair because we all pay the same condo fees, so I didn't understand why I had to look at this dead tree, and couldn't do anything about it!

The time came though. On Wednesday there were these people walking up and down the path in front of the house staring at the houses. I thought they were a bit creepy. But, then they set up. Now, of course this was a school day, the kids didn't want to leave until they were done- because they wanted to watch, AND there was a HUGE mess in the front- we couldn't go out the front door (we used the back for the whole day).

The kids watched the LADY climb the tree, she had her safety gear, her big "knife", ropes etc. She started cutting things off, small, then bigger- BUT not the dead branch! She went all the way up, and the dead branch was still staring me in the face! Just before we had to leave for school, she started coming back down. And then, the last thing she did to our tree was to CUT THE DEAD BRACH! Yep- she was up there for almost an hour, and the dead branch was the last to fall- needless to say, our tree looks naked, and I am sure there will be NO shade this summer (that tree provided a ton- but there is not much left!). Thankfully we have window air conditioners- and they will be put to good use this year!

I guess it is a case of be careful what you wish for, I wanted the 1 branch gone, and now, there is pretty much just a tree trunk as tall as our house out front!

And of course, Danika needed a picture of her and Sugar (yes, the dog is sleeping and she is bugging her, that is just the way things work in this house!)
