Well, just when we thought we knew everything about my body with regards to the pregnancy!
I called the doctors office yesterday, just to make sure they got the ultrasound results. The receptionist told me they did, but the doctor hadn't seen them yet. She then told me that there were some recommendations from the ultrasound tech. I got worried, and asked if she could tell me what it was- so I didn't have to worry until the doctor could call. She told me that the ultrasound tech recommended that I come back when I am 28 weeks (april 25th) to check on the placenta- it is low lying, which could turn into placenta previa. And she recommended that I do some other ultrasounds too- due to fibroids. I had to ask, keeping in mind that I was talking with the receptionist- not the doctor or the nurse (no offense to receptionists- she is very good, and knows what she is talking about), I asked her what those things were and what they meant. She told me that placentas do move- so that is why they want to check it at 28 weeks. And that because of the fibroids and placenta the doctor would probably have me stay off my feet and rest as much as possible. So I made an appointment for Thursday at 3:15 to talk with the doctor and see what she says.
After that, of course I hit the internet (what did people do without that). I first looked up low lying placenta. The information that I found made me feel better. Low lying placentas can move- but if they haven't moved by 28 weeks, the doctor will most likely recommend a scheduled c-section at 37 weeks for the safety of the baby and mommy (so that would put us at the end of June). If the placenta doesn't move out of the way of the opening of the cervex, it is called placenta previa. Basically, I would have to take it really easy, so I don't enduce labour, and rupture the placenta. Since the placenta would be in the baby's way of escaping- we would have to have a c-section for safety.
With fibroids, I read everything that sounded the same as when I read about the cyst. So I looked up both words- turns out the most common type of cyst in pregnant women is a uterine fibroid. So I am guessing that the tech found my cyst and is talking about that! But there is nothing really to worry about with that either. It is basically a cyst (which we all knew I had), and if I have pain I have to go to the hospital.
Those were the recommendations from the tech. So I will find out what the doctor has to say about it tomorrow. I am not worried though- just one more thing in this pregnancy. We are kind of hoping that they decide to just do a scheduled c-section. That way we can plan accordingly- brett taking time off work, dealing with the other job we have, and the animals in our house etc. And we would know that they would take care of the cyst (fibroids) at that time.
It would be nice to know when the baby is coming- but would also be nice to experience going into labour- but if it comes down to it- it is my safety and Danikas safety that are the most important!
I will keep you all posted!
