The weekend before Christmas!

Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the house...
Well in most peoples houses, the families were decorating trees, wrapping presents, and doing some Christmas baking. In some families, people were running around like chickens with their heads cut off wondering how it got here so fast. There were still the couple (by couple I mean many) of people who had to run out to Walmart (or where ever) for that one last item. And there were a couple households where people just rested, thankful they were done all that needed to be done, for what will still be a stressful time of the year- no matter what they were thinking!
Then there was the Hendricks house. Were we doing Christmas stuff- well not if you don't include moving all of the decorations so some painting could get done. We didn't even look at anything christmas! Which makes us look forward to Christmas, and thankful that it is so close. There is a rest in sight for us.
Friday night had us at home depot (home away from home lately) renting a demo hammer- if any of you have ever seen one of these, or had the wonderful opportunity to work one of these things- you know how our weekend started! It is basically a jack hammer for your house. It took out the lino and the sub floor in the kitchen and entry way- so if you are planning on coming to our house this week- please wear good shoes! Brett had to saw 1x1 foot squares along the floor and then use this thing to pull them off the floor. They are not only glued- but stapled- with a million staples in each 1x1 square! This machine is heavy and poor Brett was doing it all night! It was very loud too- but thankfully I was able to sleep through it! I got up on Saturday and took Brett for breakfast- then it was back to taking floor out for him. I however got out of it- I got the joy of going to take bottles back, going to walmart, zellers and sobeys to get our 'stuff we will need, so we wont have to leave the house over the holidays'. Bottle depot wasn't bad- and it is always a great place to go because they give YOU money- can't beat that! Then it was over to Walmart- I was so excited- I got a great parking spot- and thought to myself- "This wont be as bad as I thought" HAHAHAHAHAHA, Was I ever wrong! I took back a blow up winnie the pooh decoration we had bought for the lawn- it didn't work properly and Tigger and Winnie the Pooh looked to be doing something that is not appropriate for an out door display! So they took that back- Brett is still amazed! Then I got a cart and headed in- promising a young hockey player that I would by some chocolate covered almonds from him on the way out when I had change- by the time I got out, he was gone! I started in- and it looked good, but by the time Made it to the cat and dog food isles, I knew I was crazy. I got everything I needed- which wasn't alot from there, and when I got back to the car I realized I was in there for over an hour- getting 3 bags of stuff! So then I headed to Zellers to spend a gift certificate we got from my uncle for christmas (we had Christmas in BC while we were there last weekend- so no we didn't open anything else early)! I bought a diaper genie, an ocean wonders receiving blanket, some avent bottles, and the avent bottle starilizer. I took my time in there- it wasn't that busy which was nice, and I didn't want to go to Sobeys, or home! Sobeys had 3 tills open-great! So that took me an hour and a half- by the time I got home, Brett still had a lot I could help with!
We had to get the demo hammer back to Home Depot by 6, and do the church- so we took time out to go and do that, and then back home we went- pulling lino and millions of Staples! Sunday was much of the same- except that we got to go to Ikea- we were there to have breakfast for $1- not bad actually- very worth it- but if you are a big eatter by more than one! Then we bought our hardwood, rented the Ikea van, had it home in less than an hour, and back at ikea for lunch (50 cent hot dogs!). But then back to the grinde!
Brett was nice enough to let me watch some christmas shows- I think it was to get me out of his way! I watched Yogis first christmas- and we asked ourselves why we were aloud to watch that show as children! Then Brett joined me to watch Rudolph and eat chinese food, then I conitnued watching charlie brown and garfield- while he painted!
Brett worked late yet again, and I went to bed- when I got up this monday morning- everything was tidy enough for me to work today- and wonder about what he is going to make me do tonight! The good news is- maybe it will all be done this week, and we can have a rest next week, when we don't have to go to work!

... And I heard him whine as he finally fell asleep- "if it wasn't for my wife, I don't know what I would do!"
