Back to reality

Well it was back to reality after a long weekend in BC. We had a great time. We were a little nervous about flying with Taylor for her first time, but she was easier to deal with then the rest of us. She just slept the whole way- both ways. We got off lucky I think! The airports were not as busy as I thought they would be, especially so close to Christmas. I think we picked the right times to be leaving. Although, we left Calgary when it was +13, and arrived to +6 and rain in Abbotsford. When we took off from Abbotsford they had to de-ice the plane. Brett and I walked from Moms to the mall on Saturday. We got outside and it was raining- of course being Calgarians- we don't have umbrellas- so we looked like tourists for sure. It was also cold- by the time we got to the mall (about 3 or 4 blocks- not far) my nose was so cold. It is a good thing I brought my winter coat. We had a great dinner at this place called the Washington Avenue Grill- I had lobster stuffed Ravioli, and Brett had steak- with the best red peppers ever! It would have been a better place if we had gone during daylight- since it over looks the ocean- but oh well! It would also be a wonderful place to rent for a party (but I am sure probably expensive)! We were also almost late for the plane on Sunday! We got about 30 blocks from moms, when Brett realized he forgot his wallet, so we had to turn around and go back. Then we got about 2 blocks away and Ryan had realized that he forgot his cell phone charger (I guess that is what happens when you don't pack yourself). So we turned around again. You would think after that we had everything- but no, we still forgot some stuff! Then mom took a wrong turn and had us all panicing- but we could go that way too! So when we got to the airport we had about 5 minutes to check in, eat something, and get through security! Unfortunatly they do not let food or drinks past security, so we had to finish eating before- and they don't sell anything on the other side- small small airport! But we made it- then we had dinner at dads- and it was worth the wait! So we were back to it yesterday- back to work for both of us, and then back to renos for Brett. He took out the stub wall inbetween the kitchen and living room. It looks great. So tonight he is doing the small wall at the door and doing some drywalling to fill in the spots. Oh, I can not wait until this is all done! He is trying his best, and doing such a great job! I can't believe sometimes that he is the one who has done all of this. I think it is the part of him that is a perfectionist that is learning how to do all of this properly- which is a good thing for both of us! We also did the ultimate (well in my books), we have decided that we are not putting up a Christmas tree this year. It is already the middle of December, and we can't put it up until the floor is in- which will probably be sometime next week, or next weekend. So that only leaves a couple of days until Christmas- which we wont be around much for anyway- so we would be putting it up- just to take it down. So no tree this year- we will just have to enjoy everyone elses that much more! Next year we will be getting a new bigger tree (I don't know if Brett knows this yet or not!), right now our tree is a small apartment sized one- which looks silly with the vaulted ceilings- so new one next year!

Well that is our update for now- pictures will be available shortly (tomorrow or Thursday)!
Have a wonderful day- only 13 days until Christmas!
