NO MORE DIAPERS

I remember reading a post just after Bryce was born from a friend stating that she was now diaper free, I couldn't wait to say that too. I mean, not to rush them growing up, but to not have to change diapers anymore- well that is great, BUT- to not have to buy them, remember them, smell them- WOW!! That is a reward in itself!

Well at the end of June, I decided one day that that was it. I was done. So, I made Bryce a sticker chart like I had done for Danika at 2. She was really into Dora- so hers was a "map", when she got to the end of the "trail" she got a DVD. Each time she went to the bathroom she got a sticker and a smartie. So, I started with Bryce. I made his chart, and got the smarties (so if you have been to our house during potty time and wondered why we have a container full of smarties in our bathrooms- this is why).

I am also not big on pull-ups. I use them at night with him (and did with her), but don't use them during the day, unless we have to go out somewhere and wont be near a bathroom. So, I got his underwear ready. The next day, in the underwear he went. We took him to the bathroom every 40 minute, and had success each time!

I have to say, he was easy. We barely have accidents (and if we do, it is because we forgot! He even poops in the potty with no issues. This morning, he actually told me that poop was coming out, during breakfast (I know, I should have warned you!). I took him to the bathroom and he pooped- no accidents!!!! I was so happy. And the other day, we went to Calaway park- so he was in a pull-up. He didn't pee in it at all! He peed in the bathroom there, and when we got home. There were hours in between bathroom breaks, and he did it! I was so happy!

Since starting to train at the end of June, I could count the number of accidents- not many! I am so proud of him, and so happy that he was so much easier than Danika (I thought she was pretty easy, but he was easier!). And I am happy to say that we are diaper free!

Oh, with the sticker chart- well Danika cost me a ton of money in DVDs. But Bryce, hasn't even gotten one- because he was more than happy with just putting the stickers all over the page. We only went through one sheet. When I took it down, he just stopped asking. If he does, I tell him that I have to make him a new map, and he says "okay" and away he goes- seriously- too easy! Danika was still getting stickers and smarties for up to a year after we started. Bryce took about 2 weeks, now he barely asks for them, just goes on the potty and is more than happy to flush the toilet and wash his hands! I didn't even go through a pack of smarties- and that is with Danika having a couple too!

What a big boy!!!

Oh, one problem though...he is so skinny, the diapers helped hold up his pants. Now, he is back down to 18 month shorts so they fit around his waist. I have no idea what to do in the winter when he has to wear pants, because his waist is so small and his legs are so long!
