songs

Music means a lot to me, they can sway my mood, just with a few notes. Well, not only was I emotional with Bryce's first birthday- but Danika will be 3 next Sunday- yes 3 already. I don't know where the time has gone.

I know when she was about 3 months old I posted about the Kenny Chesney song "Don't Blink"- because it is so true. It has been true for the last- well many years.

Well, to make my emotions worse- Danika found a video that I made for Brett at her first Christmas. With pictures and video's of her. And of course there was music to it. Each song I picked for the video had special meaning. I have a special song for most important things in my life. At the time, most of the songs just fit with the video- but now that she is older, and we see who she is- they do fit, they fit with her, and our life. They are so true- almost like they were written for us- but weren't (obviously).

I want to share these songs, maybe they will relate in someway to other peoples lives- yes they are country songs- but really, where else are you going to get real life songs.

The first song that means a lot to me for Danika is Tim McGraw's "My little Girl". When we had just found out we were having a baby, I was in the nursery- probably painting, or organizing or something- and on the radio came Tim McGraw singing this song. I just melted- and that was before we knew she was a girl. Once we found out- well the whole song rang true.

The song that is for me and Bryce is Gord Bamford's "Little Guy". I know it is about a dad and his son (I guess the Tim McGraw one was about a dad and his daughter too- but still). This song came out when I was pregnant with Bryce, and it is so true- it made me cry as soon as I heard it the first time. When Bryce was 2 months old, I left him and Danika with Daddy and went to the stampede to see Gord Bamford, and when he sang this song, I sang, danced with my mom and cried. I can barely get through the song now!

Another song that sticks true for both of my kids (and for any really) is Billy Dean's "Let them be little". Whenever we are not having a good day, I think of this song. Whenever I wake up and Danika is in the middle of the bed, I think of this song. There are many times when this song sticks out, each day. The whole thing describes every child out there.

There are more- but these three mean so much- after all I have been through this year, I think all the time- "Let them be little"

"Let them be Little" Lyrics
I can remember when you fit in the palm of my hand.
You felt so good in it; no bigger than a minute.
How it amazes me you're changin' with every blink.
Faster than a flower blooms, they grow up all too soon.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give 'em hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

I never felt so much in one little tender touch.
I live for those kisses, your prayers an' your wishes.
An' now you're teachin' me how only a child can see.
Tonight, while we're on our knees, all I ask is:

Please, let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let 'em sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

The so innocent, precious soul:
You turn around, an' it's time to let them go.

So let them be little,
'Cause they're only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give 'em praise,
Give them love every day.
Let 'em cry, let 'em giggle,
Let them sleep in the middle,
Oh, but let them be little.

Let them be little
