Its Official (almost).....

If you haven't heard the news already, you will hear it here for the first time I guess!

Us Hendricks' are moving! This is how the whole thing went down.

With Brett in Washington and me home alone- we both got used to having space in the bed (yeah we have only been married two years, and already want our space!). So we talked about getting a King size bed- but realized that would not fit in our room we have now- so we decided to live with what we have.
Then on the Sunday ( I think it was April 22), we were staying home to clean the house, when our little girl made me want bacon for breakfast. Well bacon isn't something we buy regularly- so we didn't have any. So off we go to humptys for Breakfast- we ended up having a chicken sandwich- with bacon- it was great! Then on the way home- we went past some showhomes at the end of our street. We have been wanting to go in them since they were built almost a year ago- so I asked Brett to stop (we are nosey and just want to see what is going up in our area!). It was 5 minutes to noon, and they open at noon. Brett wanted to just go home- but I suggested a slurpee- so off to 7-11 we go- get a slurpee and head back to the show homes. We agreed they were nice, and did the usual- oh this room is big- this is horrible- type thing while walking through them. When we were done, we still didn't want to go home- and remembered that there were some new starter homes with single attached garages- so we went to look at those. They were horrible- so small- we walked in one and walked out. But being the procrastinators we are- we still didn't want to go home to clean our house. So we remembered there were a couple more around the corner. So off we go to view the cedarglen and cardel homes. These ones are much bigger than ours, and have a double attached garage. We started with the cardel ones- very nice, very expensive. Then as we are walking up the garage pad to the cedarglen homes, we realize the one we are going into is called the contendor- we were laughing and making fun of the name. When we went in- well lets just say we fell in love! We both looked at each other and knew what each of us was thinking.
As we walked around we noticed the bonuses for us- nice entry way (very large), a flex room, large living room with gas fire place- which opens into a wonderful kitchen, with a nook and huge island. From the garage entry you can go downstairs, or to the half bath (on the main floor), the laundry room, and through the walk through pantry to the kitchen. WOW! We were both already sold- but needed to check out the bedrooms. We went up the stairs- only to find that there is a bonus room too! We started with the smaller of the 3 bedrooms. It would make a good guest room, nice bathroom next to it- and then a great sized room for Danika- right next to ours. It is funny because it is a similar shape to the bedroom I had growing up (those of you that remember- it had the door open up to the closet- so when I didn't want people to get in, I would sit against the door with my feet on the closet wall!). We were really impressed- but needed to know if a king size bed would fit in the master! We turned the corner- and walked into the most amazing master bedroom I have seen in a while. It is huge- with a great window. Then we went through the door way- saw the his and her closets (YEAH!) and the clincher for me.... a shower, plus a soaker tub!!!! And my favorite- the soaker tub in in the corner- by the window!!! In the show home the basement is finished- but we are not getting them to do that- we will do it ourselves and that is where the dayhome will be. There will be much more room for the dayhome. There will be a eating/craft area, quiet area, and play area, plus a bathroom. There is still room for storage, and a room (they have a bedroom down there) ours will be Bretts fish room (the tank will be in the living room!).

So after walking around and planning the rest of our lives- we decided to ask the price- obviously because of the market- scared to death to see what our dream home would cost. So we ask the lady- she says $462000. We say- plus lot- she says no- that includes lot and GST. So we take the sheet to talk it over at home.

Both of us love the house- and think we could sell ours for close to $400000, so mortgage wouldn't be much more. So we called her back and ask when they will have lots available- turns out they had one. And all we have to do to hold it is to do a cost estimate with the area sales guy. So we booked that for the wednesday, and got an appointment at the bank for tuesday.

When I called on the monday to talk to the guy about some questions we had- he told me that two other lots came available- $15000 cheaper than the one we saw. So we went to have a look and liked the one way more. So already our house is cheaper.

So Brett and I sweated it out for a couple days- then the bank calls- we are approved!!!!!! So now we are going through it all again. Picking colors, tiles, cupboards etc. It is all so exciting. We have to do it fast though- because you only have so long to pick everything- and then deadline for us is when Danika should be born- so we need to get that done. They will start building in the summer- and our tentative possession is January 30 2008! So if any of you know someone who wants to buy our house- let us know. Don't know when we will put it on the market- closer to november/december I am guessing- depending on our possession date! We can't wait!!! Yeah we said we would never move- but everyone would move for their dream house, and the perfect price!!!! Watch for updates as we get them on the progress of our new house!

In other news! We had our ultrasound on Friday- Everything is perfect. The placenta moved, the cyst is smaller than it has ever been! So looks like for now we have avoided a c-section! Danika is definitely a girl- not like we had any doubts- but she gave us a good look now that she is bigger! We got some more pictures- I will have to scan them first though! And she is in position to be born- she is head down, and in the right spot! She is measuring 3 days ahead- doesn't mean she will be early- because their measurements are average- as long as she isn't 2 weeks ahead or behind they don't worry.

Other, other news! We have to get renos done- and we have to go through and toss things we don't need/want etc. Should be fun! And Brett has to take down his new tank (we wont even be able to save it to use in the new house), and he is selling the other one- so if anyone knows- or wants a tank- with everything included- it is salt water, he has to sell the whole thing- stand, tank, sump, products, and inhabitants- let us know ASAP- he needs/wants to get rid of it soon!

Well that is all for now! Have a great week everyone!

If you want to look at our floor plan- you can go to cedarglens website and look up the contendor II!
