Childbirth classes

Today is the day. We start our childbirth classes tonight! When we registered for these classes we never thought the day would come. It is finally here. Neither of us can wait to see what is in store for us. I have been researching what will happen to me since before I got pregnant- ignoring some things that may have turned me off of getting pregnant- so I will have to learn about those. But Brett has just been wondering if he will pass out or not! In his defense- the time he passed out we didn't know what was happening with me, or the baby. We also hadn't eaten in over 12 hours. So it was a different situation. I am sure he will be fine- he is so excited to actually meet Danika now that he can finally feel and see her move!

We had a hospital orientation class on Monday night. It was great. We were very impressed- especially for a free class. It started off with a slide show of pictures from the hospital (you can't actually go in because there are women in there giving birth- so it is understandable!). The pictures were great- gave us an idea of what we will be walking into in July. She explained the visitor rules- to which Brett and I decided to tell everyone to stay home until we can get home, then they can meet us at home. Just because the only people who can visit are the babies grandparents- and they can only stay for a Max of 15 minutes. So we figure- since I will be home within 24 hours of giving birth to her- that everyone may as well meet at our house- then everyone will be in a relaxed environment and have as much time with her as they need.

When the slides were done (she also gave us some good tips on what to use when in labor too!). We still had about 20 minutes left. So she took us over to the hospital to show the dads where the admitting desk is- and how to get there and back to the room. Then she decided she would take us up to the 5th floor to see where we needed to go (this is not part of the class- but she is trying to get it to be). We got to see the waiting room (which is really some chairs in the hall), but couldn't go any further- but that was fine- I didn't want to hear the screaming anyways! Brett and I are feeling a lot better about the whole thing now that we know where to go- and with tonights class (first of 6), I am sure we will start to feel better about the whole birth too!

I also had an appt with the cyst dr on Monday. What a joke. The cyst is smaller than it was when they found it. So we avoided the c-section- so I thought this would be the last time I saw him. I go in- they have moved his office without telling anyone- stupid. So then I find it. Wait 20 minutes past when my appt is to see him. He asks me about the cyst (I was told about it right at the ultrasound), so I tell him. He takes my blood pressure, and listens to Danikas heart beat (which is always 150 now- so I could have told him it was fine before). Then he says- "okay- see you in a week, stay well" and leaves the room. YEAH RIGHT!!! Like I am going back there- to waste time and money for a 10 second appt in which he does less (but the same) things as my reg dr. We were under the impression that we were seeing him just in case we had to have a c-section- but turns out the hospital has a couple dr who are just there in case of c-sections- they don't let outside drs do them- so why are we still seeing him???? He told me to make an appt for 1 week from then on my way out- which I didn't do- I don't even see my reg dr that much yet- so why see him. I have an appt tomorrow with our dr who will deliver Danika- so I will ask her if I need to still see him. But unless she can give me a good answer on why- I will not be going back there!

We had one of Bretts uncles come in this week to give us some tips on what to do to sell our house. He loves the floor plan- just like we do. He wants us to get new carpet on the 3rd (we were going to clean it, but he knows someone who can put new stuff in cheaper), finish our painting, do a couple little things, and add some cheap baseboards. So nothing major- that we didn't know. He did say not to do anything else with the basement- well except get boxes, plates for the electrical (DAD!!!) to finish that off- but other than that he said not to finish it- so that saves us some time and money! He has no doubts that this house will sell in less than 2 weeks in the fall- with any possession date we want- which is nice. Oh yeah- and for the price we want.

Happy birthday to Garrett (saturday May 12), and Happy Mothers Day to all those moms out there (including ours)! Can't wait to have my first mothers day next year!!!!
