Well I have a new version of that. It is called the cyst came back!
We got a phone call from our doctors office on Friday night to let us know the ultrasound came back and everything looked good with the baby- But...
They are concerned with the cyst that I had at Christmas time. Apparently the one has grown- it was 5.5cm now it is 13cm. The other one is still there, but is still just over 4 cm. So they would like me to see a specialist. Not a big deal- because it isn't causing me any pain, but they want to evaluate it because if they need to take it out- they need to do so in the second trimester. So it left Brett and I to look up what this is all about- and if it is safe for the baby. This is what we found out so far.
They can do three things with it. The first is to just watch it and see what happens. We read that if it isn't causing any pain they may do this- but depending on the location and size. Because that will give them clues on if it will twist (which isn't good), or burst (also not good).
The second thing they could do is drain it- which would be the best option. I would be able to go back to normal activities in 2 days- then they would watch to see if it comes back, and deal with it after the baby is born.
The third is for them to do surgery- which is not good in our case- not for the baby but for us. I would be on bed rest for 6 weeks. The surgery wouldn't harm the baby at all though. But being on bed rest for 6 weeks will effect me- because I don't think any of the dayhome parents are willing to stick it out for 6 weeks, only to come back for maybe 3 months then I would be on Maternity leave. Which would mean that I would possibly have to find another job until maternity. I know they are not aloud to discriminate- but who would want to hire a 5 month pregnant women, knowing she will be going on maternity leave in 3-4 months, and wont be back? So that may be tough.
But we aren't getting ahead of ourselves. We are going to see this other doctor (not sure when the appt is yet), and see what the dr says. I am not in any pain, so we are going to let the doctor know our situation, and see if we can get it drained- or just leave it. Fingers crossed! Hopefully they can take it out after the baby is born, and I can have Brett stay home and help, and inlist the help of other family on a couple days for Brett to go to work- until I recover- but those are all plans that will have to be on the back burner until we know!
So now do you see why the song "The cat (cyst) came back" is in my head!!!!!!
