We don't usually go, because Brett does not like Stampede time- anywhere in the city, so to get that close, is rare. But, he knows I like going and that the kids would have fun, so he said he would go. We chose to go on sneak a peek, mainly because it was cheap. But it turned out to be great because there was barely anyone there.
We first walked over to the big four building to get our tickets to see the super dogs. You don't pay for these, you just have to have one to get a seat. Then we went downstairs in the building to get supper and were greeted by a kids area. The kids got their faces painted, bounced in the bounce houses, made a button, made a paper 3-d bus, and there was more, but we had to go and eat so we would not miss the superdogs! We had a hamburger and fries and then went back upstairs to watch the SuperDogs.
The SuperDogs is always a hit, they still seem to surprise me too! The kids really enjoyed it, and that really got them going for the rest of the stampede. We played some games- one lady didn't want her prize that she won- so gave it to the kids. Well, it was a huge frog- that took up more than our stroller. So, eventually, I side tracked the kids, in the dream home, and Brett stayed outside and gave it away to another child! Danika tried her hand at the birthday game. We all put our money on our birthday month, and she got to roll the dice. She rolled--- JULY! So she won- she picked a dog. It was the same place that the frog was from- but wasn't as big!
We saw pigs, ducks, chickens, chicks that were just born that day (which have fur and walk around). We saw cows, donkeys and of course horses! The kids watched the rides at night, and loved that. (we didn't do rides due to time and money!), but they loved seeing the lights and hearing the people scream!
Brett and Danika indulged themselves in Mini Donuts- buying 2 bags first, then going for the bucket! (they didn't finish the bucket!- well that isn't true- unfortunately they found the bucket this morning, so her and Bryce had them for Breakfast- GROSS!).
We ended the night watching a bit of fireworks. We were able to see the smaller ones that they show during the grandstand show- just off to the side of the grandstand. So, we told them that was all, and we had to go- it was closing! (nice hey!). They were fine with it though, it was about 11 as we were driving away!
We got home, and carried our tired kids to bed. We were in bed by midnight! Thankfully they slept in this morning. But, I was up ready for work at 6:30!
Here are some pictures...
