Happy holidays

We hope that all of you had a very happy holiday season.

Ours was very happy, and busy!

It started on the 19th when we were very lucky to find out that Bryce Michael will be joining our family in May. We had our ultrasound at 7:30am. I had to get up a bit early to start drinking all the water I had to have- but that was not a problem- since I really couldn't sleep anyways! We got there- and the place is amazing- we went to a new one right at the hospital. Danika had a blast- the tech gave her some stickers, and the room was huge- so she got right to playing! They also had a tv screen at the end of the bed- high on the wall- so we could see everything she was doing. That was great- because with all of Danika's Brett could see everything, and I saw nothing. She got some great face shots, and we saw him wave and kick his feet! He looks perfect. This tech actually asked us if we wanted to know the sex- which surprised us- when we asked to find out with Danika, we had to beg the tech. So as this tech was doing her measurements- Bryce moved a bit- and I saw his "goods" she immediately moved the wand- and asked again. I just looked at her and said "it is a boy right?" She said yes- and put the wand back down so we could see again. She did explain that of course they can't tell 100%- and sometimes girl parts are swollen- but she didn't think so in this case- it was big enough to make her VERY sure that he is a boy! We saw the stuff too- and that is most definitely a boy! We are very excited- and nervous, because we don't know what to do with a boy- but like with Danika- we will figure it out!

The next day we got together with my dad, Sharon, Holly, and Sharon's mom- so we had to tell them. We tried to get Danika to say his name- because she did pick it. But she was too busy. So we told everyone except dad. He was out- but when he came home, Danika helped him unwrap one of his gifts- early- it was a blue Calgary flames frame- that had one of the ultra sound pictures in it. they were all very happy! That night we met up with some Friends for dinner, had a great time- Danika stayed with Grandma and Grandpa- so we got some adult time which was great- thanks Christie and Clayton!

The next few days we spent getting ready for Christmas. I had my appt too- where the dr confirmed that all is well with Bryce and he is very healthy!

Christmas eve we went out to Brett's parents house. We had a great afternoon there- a wonderful dinner, and then opened gifts. Danika got some cute outfits, and was spoilt rotten! We all had a great night. We left around 10:00 to head for my dads house.

Got to Dads around 11:00, and headed for bed- it had been a long day, and we knew Christmas day would be longer! Brett, Danika and I got to try out the new hide-a- bed- which actually wasn't that bad! Except that Danika is a bed hog! We woke up around 6:30 and everyone was up and opening gifts by 7:30. It was a great morning, and of course Danika was spoilt again! She got so much stuff this Christmas that we had to go out and buy a new shelf to keep it all in! (which is only about a foot and a half high- so she climbs on it and looks out the window!) Dinner was great. We all had a great day there as well- we were very tired and headed for home around 9:30.

Boxing day was spent in Strathmore again, we went out to Brett's grandparents house to visit with that side of the family. Some we haven't seen since right after Danika was born! We had a great time, and caught up with everyone. Danika LOVED playing with all the kids. She especially liked the two older girls! (I think because they were giving her so much attention!). After we left there, we stopped in to see Brett's grandpa- had a good visit with him, it was short- but nice to stop and say hi!

We then had some time to ourselves, we cleaned up the house, and got some stuff organized! I also got in some boxing week sale shopping!!!

We spent New Years in Strathmore- with Bretts parents. We had a quiet night- went for some Chinese food, and watched the hockey game- then we all went to bed- it was about 10:30. New Years day we all sat around there, had a great visit, had dinner, and then had to head home in a snow storm! I was terrified- but Brett said it was fine!

This past weekend, we did some much needed errands, and also had some time to ourselves! We also got to have dinner at Dads- he made me lasagna and garlic toast!!!! We stopped and bought Bryce's mattress for his crib, and also took some of Danika's old clothes to the consignment store and got Bryce some outfits too!

Although we are not really happy about being back to work- we are, and it is nice to be back to reality- for now!

Oh- our big accomplishment for the holidays! Danika is now sleeping in her toddler bed! We decided to move her crib out on boxing day, and have her bed in there- and she hasn't really had a problem. Some nights she doesn't want to stay in there- but we leave her there. She gets tired enough and crawls back into her bed and goes to sleep! We did have to stop shutting her door though- but we put a baby gate in the door way. It is nice to know that the transition is done, and went so smoothly!
