Nope it isn't done- or really started. Brett got this crazy idea that he was done doing things around here. I told him he doesn't have to help- but he is a perfectionist- and well- I am not. He also has attention to detail. I know what I want- and figure he is the best person for the job.
I don't think Danika's room is very kid friendly. In my profession I am taught how to make thing better and more enjoyable for kids. Well Danika's walls are grey- with tiny little Mermaid wall stickies on them. She has brown drapes, and of course in her bed you can have the bumper pads and quilt that make it look all nice. So- right now there is a white sheet (her nemo ones are in the wash) and a purple receiving blanket. BORING! (Oh and her crib- which is gorgeous, and a while shelf)
We have had to put the dresser in the closet- because she keeps opening and closing the drawers- getting her fingers and wrists caught in them, and she takes EVERYTHING out of the drawers. So that is gone. Today she went in her room- and we thought we had done good- nothing for her to get into! YEAH right! We go in- she had stood at her shelf and took ALL the diapers off of it!
So- I had finally convinced Brett that we need to paint polka dots on the wall- not sure what colours yet- but something that will grow with her. Then I went to IKEA today and bought 4 shelves- for picture frames, diapers etc. A couple hook things for her towel and some coats. Some "clips" picture frames for the wall. My plan is to do the dots in the corners on the wall by her bed (they will be bigger and not solid- hard to explain). Then on the opposite wall I will have the shelves stacked in 2s with the clips picture frames in the middle, and I will move her other shelf. I have some other things I want to buy for in there. But that will come later.
We will be putting up the shelves this weekend, but the painting will be waiting until we get back from Disneyland- we go in just over a week!!!!!!!!
Getting excited about Disneyland- and happy to finally reached a compromise with Brett for Danika's room!
