I bet you all thought I forgot to update weekly like I said I would. Well things come up with a baby!
Danika had her doctors appointments on Wednesday. She had her first appointment with our doctor- for her 4 month check up. It went very well. She was being her regular comedic self during the whole thing. She was smiling and laughing at the doctor and nurse- it was great. The doctor has sent in a referral to the "flat head" specialist, but did say that most people come back and tell her that nothing had to be done, or that they wouldn't see the baby until "it" was a certain age- and by then it went away. Other than that- all went well with her, and we will be back there in January for her 6 month check up.
After that I picked Brett up and we headed for the health centre to get her shots. I was really not looking forward to that. They did the regular measurements and then got the needles ready- Danika watched her the whole time. She was okay with the first shot- but the second one, she balled, and the third one she SCREAMED- she was not happy. We have to stay there for 15 minutes after, and it took her way longer to calm down after these ones then the first ones. The nurse told me to do some squats with her- and had Brett ring a bell. But There was no way I was doing squats with her- I just sat and hugged her. Those things really are as hard on the parents! The nurse gave us a sheet on feeding solid foods- and didn't seem happy to find out Danika was already eating solid foods- but that is our decision- not hers. And she also gave us a booklet on how to get some "tummy time" in, to help with her head. Some are very good, and we have started trying those. Danika is getting better at it though- so hopefully it goes away and she doesn't have to wear the helmet!
They do say that the baby can get "moody" for 24-48 hours after the shots- and they are right. Danika was showing us how she can be. It was a great two days! Brett had to go to Edmonton for work the day after- he will never be able to do that again- she was so cranky! It made for a long day. She didn't get a fever, or bruising, it was just the attitude- and I think it was just her being mad at us for doing that.
Both doctors were not too please to find out Danika is eating cereal already- she has 2 tablespoons every day or two. We did try carrots- which she loved, and peas- which she hated. This week we will probably try green beans or sweet potatoes. We did decide to give her cereal, because she was making the motions to eat. She sticks her tongue out when she sees food- any food. Bretts boss had a doughnut the other day and she stared him down! So we knew she was ready. We decided to try veggies- well because we did. We don't like eating the same thing day in and day out- so why should she. The doctors didn't like this because they say to wait until 6 months due to allergies- but talking to other moms who have children our age- and our own parents. We were all eating food by 3 or 4 months- and there are way less allergies with Brett and My generation than this one- so we went for it. I didn't get into it with the doctors- but could have!
Danika was 15 pounds 2.8 ounces on Wednesday and 25 and a half inches long. She is getting big. She basically by passed all the 3 month clothes that we were prepared for- and jumped right to 6 month stuff. So we don't have as many clothes as we thought. Don't know what we are going to do when she outgrows this- I think I will have to share my clothes with her!
House update- WE HAVE DRYWALL! It was so exciting to walk in there today and see actual walls. It is all coming together. We actually had to go to the showhome and get a key- so from here until moving day we only get to go in on weekends. That wont be to hard for me, since I have been doing that for awhile. I am not off work until around 6- and by then it is too dark to go see. Brett usually would stop by- but with it being so dark, and having to get the key- he probably wont make it in! I think it may make time go by faster! We will get some pictures up soon.
Well I think that is all- it was a long one! Have to get to bed, as we are watching Taylor for a couple hours tomorrow too! And I will probably be putting Christmas stuff up! Call me crazy- but I will have to take it down right after to pack it up to move- so I want to enjoy it! It is Danika's first Christmas- she should learn from the get go how Christmas crazy her mom is!
Good night!
