growing up

I know I have talked about this many times, but, today, it is in my head big time!

Today, Danika went to her first, no parent birthday party- by no parent, I mean, us as her parents didn't stay. At first, she wanted us to stay. But, about 10 minutes in, she told us to leave. She was at a birthday party for friends of hers from preschool- the twins, who's names are- and I am not joking, Danika and Taylor. They turned 5, and had their party at a gymnastic's place in Okotoks. She had a great time!

And Tomorrow, it is the day to sign her up for kindergarten! Yes, it is that time. I can't believe it. After I drop her at preschool, we will be heading to the school to register. I have the forms filled out, and I know she is ready. Me, well, I still remember the day she was born! (like it was yesterday!). A funny thing, the principal at her school used to be a teacher at the school that my mom worked at. So she knows me from when I was in elementary school! Weird!

Well, this is what I am shocked with- everyone said, it happens too fast, and now I agree. She went from this...

Way too fast!
But, she will always be my baby girl!

Also, today we had slow cooker sunday. We were in our PJs, hibernating inside until we had to take Danika to her birthday party. Then we came home to have Baked Potato soup, with grilled cheese! The soup was good, next time I think I would add a few more spices. It made a ton of soup, so we have left overs, and froze some! I found the recipe on pinterest, and it was so easy. I sort of used the recipe, but sort of did my own thing too. I used half a bag of hashbrowns, half an onion, about 4 cups of chicken broth, 1 can of cream of chicken, and pepper. Mix in the slow cooker on low for 6 hours. At 5 hours, add cream cheese, and bacon. Cover again, and let that cook a bit more, and then get ready to eat. We added some grated cheese to the top. Brett and the kids had it with grilled cheese sandwiches. I decided to skip the sandwich, and I am glad I did, because it was very filling!
