Today, we got together with our Friends Andrea and Dale, and their kids Landon and Neely, as well as my Brother Ryan, his Fiance Leslie, and my nieces Taylor and Brooklynn, and went to the local farm for a pumpkin hunt.
It was actually a nice fall day. I think we all had a great time. We were able to meet a few hours before our hunt time, so we had plenty of time to see the farm, feed and pet some animals, and have our lunch. The kids had a great time meeting the animals- goats, sheep, a donkey, pigs, horses, and rabbits. They had ice cream cones filled with food for the animals- and boy, did those animals know what was in those cones! Although- at one point, one of the goats thought that Neely's coat tasted better!
Brett made friends with the sheep- and the rest of us decided that we weren't going in their pen. Brett told the kids he would hold their cones as we went into the pen. I opened the gate, and in he went. He was ganged up on by some of the sheep- so decided to walk further away from the gate- the sheep followed- the WHOLE herd did. There was probably about 30 sheep right around him, trying to get the TWO cones he had! They were big, and pushy- so after we handed Brett some more food, so we could video tape this- we decided that the kids were not going in!
We had a picnic lunch while we waited for our time to go on our hay ride to find our pumpkins. While we were eating, Landon looked over by the pond beside us and saw an ostrich, to which he says to us, "Wow, look, I can see the biggest peacock I have ever seen"! He is so cute!
We then headed over to the meeting place for our pumpkin hunt. We got on the wagons that were being pulled by the tractor- Bryce was pretty excited about that! It took us for a little drive and then hidden in the trees were all the pumpkins (they tell the kids that the pumpkin fairy hides them). We got off and got to find a pumpkin. Then the tractor took us back to a farm house so we could decorate them. They had lots of little tables for the kids to go to and put different things on them!
After that, we ended our day playing at the playground. It was a VERY good day!
