Danika's birthday party

We celebrated Danika's birthday party yesterday. Her birthday isn't until July 11th- but with everything going on in July, we choose to do it this weekend. It went very well. Since we were doing it in the evening, we decided to go to Calaway park during the day, and some friends were able to join us there too!

Friday night I got the house ready, so we could spend as much time as possible at Calaway park. I had the house all ready, and had to decorate her cake. I had my plan in my head, and went to work. Baked the cake in a bowl- which turned out great! Then I put Ariel into the cake and applied the icing! I had crushed some Teddy Grahams to make the cake look like a rock, and put those onto the icing on the cake. When I went to draw on Ariels tail though- the gel icing that I had would NOT stick to the cookie crumbs! After looking through the pantry, I found blue sparkles, so I used those for the tail! I think it turned out great! Better than my original design!

Saturday we were at Calaway park by 10am. Had fun on rides, had a picnic lunch, and had some time with some friends that will be moving away. Once we got back to the house, the party was beginning. The kids decorated princess crowns- or pirate hats. Then we had a BBQ dinner. After dinner the kids went on a scavenger hunt- they followed clues which lead them to the next princess or pirate item. The end of the hunt was a treasure map- which they followed to the kitchen for the treasure- the cake! After cake, Danika opened her presents- Thanks to everyone- GREAT presents, she is in her room now, playing with everything! She got tons of princess stuff, Littlest Pet shop, zoobles, games, and more! We also got her a princess CD player, which she loved listening to before bed last night!

It was a great day, fun had by all! Danika was so happy to spend the day with her friends and cousins! Thanks again to everyone who helped make her day special!

Wonderful party and the cake looked great. I especially loved the picture of Brett and Danika - you should frame that one.
