Big Birthday news

So I just celebrated my 28th birthday. It was on the 14th. It was great. Brett took me to Jubilations dinner theatre- we had a great time. the night before my Dad, Step-mom and sister took us out to dinner, at a wonderful restaurant that none of us had ever been too! It was a great night.

This year- I really got to celebrate- it was very different than any other birthday I have ever celebrated. Thank you to everyone for the gifts and cards- but Brett gave me the best present I could have asked for....

WE ARE PREGNANT!!!!!

Saturday September 6th- I started spotting- didn't really expect anything for a week. So I started thinking that maybe I was pregnant. I had though earlier in the week- but it was our first month trying, and we were not on the fertility drugs yet- so I didn't want to get my hopes up. I was trying to wait until my birthday to test- BUT- I am not very patient. So Tuesday September 9th I went to do the blood test. Nope- I didn't even do the home test- I had a blood test thing from my dr- which I asked for the week before at a different appointment (suspecting that I was)- and went in. Wednesday was a LONG day...

9am- the clinic opened- I called to get the results- they told me to call back after 10
10:30- I called back to be told- by a very rude lady- that results take 2-3 days. I corrected her- and finally got her to go and check- turns out- they were there! (I knew it) but the dr hadn't looked at them yet
Got off the phone with her- called the fertility clinic- because they were getting a copy of the results too- because we had an appointment at the beginning of October! Left them a message
Waited, and Waited...
2pm- called my dr again- the walk in doctor usually looks at them- and would have called if the results were abnormal- which left me wondering if abnormal is pregnant or not pregnant. I asked if she could check- turns out they gave the sheet to my doctor- who was still in with patients and would look later
2:15- the fertility clinic calls back- the nurse asked when my last period was- I tell her August 15th- she says "congratulations, you are due May 22 2009!" I was in shock.

My dr did call back around 4:30- but by that point we knew- and so did most of our family!

I am still in shock- we never expected to get pregnant that fast. And never without fertility drugs.

I am due on the 22nd- but we will be having a repeat c/s- so it will probably be scheduled for the week before- so around the 15th- which is my grandpas birthday! May is a very busy month for us- and is about to get busier!

Danika will be 22 month when this baby is born. I am already thinking that it is a boy- but not sure what I want. If it is a girl- her and Danika will be close- if it is a boy- we will have one of each. Brett is still not guessing! (but I secretly know he wants a boy!)

I will keep everyone posted through here with what goes on. I have an appointment on Wednesday- but just to do the paper work, then I think we will get in around Christmas for an ultrasound- and we will be finding out what this baby is too. If you don't want to know- well- you will have to stop all forms of communication until he/she is born!!!
