Well not only did I jinx us by saying that things were getting a bit boring until Danika gets here, when we had our meeting at the hospital on Friday we were talking to the nurse about NST (non stress tests), and we told her we hadn't been in for one. So that jinxed us too!
Here is the update:
Saturday morning I got up at around 8. I was laying in bed thinking how the hip pain would go away if I would just get up. So I decided I wont be able to sleep in soon anyways- so I may as well get used to it. So I got up- and got in the bathtub to attempt shaving my legs (which was done with great success- just took about an hour!). While I was in the tub I noticed that Danika hadn't moved yet. I laid in the tub and tried to just relax a little bit to see what she would do. After a couple of minutes, I dragged myself out of the tub and decided to get some breakfast. (Just a note- Danika is always moving- for me anyways, and moves a lot while I am eating). So I made some toast with Jam, grabbed a yogurt and sat on the couch. As I sat there I paid attention to my belly- but nothing. After I ate, I laid on my left side for a couple minutes- but she didn't move. She hates when I lay on my back- and usually will kick me- so I did that- NOTHING!!!! By now I was starting to panic- I went upstairs to wake Brett up, so we could go to the hospital for one of the non stress tests! He quickly got dressed, and calmly drove to the foothills. I was very impressed because he got there without even asking me where to go etc. He was very good about everything- and even talked to her on the way. I tried to stay calm.
We got to the hospital around 10 am. We go straight up to the 5th floor so there was no waiting. They took me into the triage room and asked some questions. It was now just over 2 hours since I got up- and not one movement. So they explained that they would put this belt over my belly to monitor her, and gave me a little hand held button to push when I felt her move- like jeopardy! As soon as they put the belt on- her heart beat was heard- and was exactly where it always is, and she started to move. At one point I pushed the button 14 times in about 5 minutes- so that is very good (should be 10 movements in 2 hours). So they made me lay there for an hour- just to double check everything. They came in to ask questions etc. Then the doctor on duty came in to let me know they were sending me home- everything was great- which we knew by then, and he also told me to watch the contractions. He explained the contractions I am having are not Braxton Hicks- they are the real thing. So he said if I see any blood, or the contractions get close together- or even similar in length- to get to the hospital.
Brett and I walked out of there- feeling way better then when we went in. We think she just wanted to get Daddy out of bed and let him know that his sleeping in days are over! Or- she is so much like him she was sleeping in too!
I am pretty sure now, that if we weren't having a c-section on the 11th, she would be an August baby!!!!
So that all said- we didn't get as much done as we had planned this weekend. We did make it to Mandy and Geoffs stag/stagette party- it was a blast! We had a great visit with everyone!
The rest of the long weekend was crazy- but not like that. I have only had about 10 contractions since the hospital on Saturday- so no labour any time soon I don't think. We did get some renos done- and hopefully they will be very close to done by the 11th- although I don't think they will be finished! But that is okay- they house doesn't go up for sale until the fall anyways!
I hope everyone had a safe and fun long weekend!
