Christmas and New Year

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

As everyone can tell from the lack of posts, we were BUSY over the holidays. I finally had time to sit down today (well, I had no choice- I threw my back out!). So, I am getting all my computer work done!

We had a great holiday. Christmas eve was spent with Brett's family at his parents house. We had a great time visiting, eating and opening gifts. We were very lucky to receive a family pass to the local rec centre, which we have already put to great use!

After a great night, we were all getting tired and made the trip up to my dads house so we could wake up there for Christmas morning. The trip to the other side of the city was a quiet one, the kids both fell asleep very quickly after leaving their Oma and Papa's!

Christmas morning I woke up first, at 5am. We were in the basement and I forgot my phone, had no idea what time it was, and when I checked, well there was no point trying to crawl back into bed. So, I curled up on the couch and had some quiet time. Everyone else was up just after 8. I think it was a Christmas miracle for me to have alone time!

We opened gifts and just sat around all morning. The kids were so happy with everything that they received. Danika got a "real camera", and a pony train from Santa, and Bryce got his race track and some Lego! There were many, many toys that the kids got this year, they were spoiled all around! We had another great dinner, and then tried to calm everyone down and relax for the rest of the night.

Santa had also left us a letter, Danika had asked for a surprise gift, and boy did he deliver. His note said that the surprise gift didn't fit on the sleigh. So, we had to pick it up at the airport. Unfortunately it arrived at 11pm. Bryce fell asleep in the van, and could not be woken up. So, Danika and I went into the airport to collect our surprise gift. To her surprise, Grandma walked through the doors. She went from tired and almost grumpy, to the happiest, most excited little girl in about 2 seconds!

We had a great week with my mom, my brother and my niece, and also got a few visits in with my Grandpa and Marion! We went bowling, shopping, and had some time to just play with the new toys around the house too! My mom and I also had a ladies day out, and got our nails done and some real shopping!

My mom went home early on New Years Eve. Once she left, we had breakfast with my dad, did a couple errands then heading to our friends Rick and Aneta's place for a New Years party! We all made it until midnight, and then shortly after piled into the van and drove home.

My New Years resolution was to "focus on Family"- more time with them, less computer/gadget time, and for all of us to be healthier. We started this by going swimming during the day, then Brett had time with them while I got groceries- without the kids I was able to read more labels and make better choices! And now we are all on our way!

The other week off we spent visiting friends, going on some day outings around the city, and cleaning up. We also had to take out the bath tub and replace it- which is still in the works, but is almost done! It was quite a job, but Brett with the help of his dad, has done a GREAT job!

Here are some pictures of our holiday time!
