So, we had our problems with Danika when I was pregnant with her, between the cyst and the placenta being low- we had our scares, we had our stressful moments etc. We thought that getting pregnant on our own this time, that the only thing would be the morning sickness- HAHA!!!
We now think that our children are trying to drive us crazy starting at a young age. With Danika- the first problem had us in the hospital on Christmas at 10 weeks pregnant. With this one- well I made it to 13 weeks- and then this baby wanted some one on one attention...
Last thursday (the 13th) I was 13 weeks. I was very excited, because depending on which site you look at, or who you talk to- I was in the second trimester- time to worry a little less. Well that was until 4:30pm. I had a great day- cleaning the house- because while us girls were away visiting my mom, the house didn't have a great weekend with Brett here! I finally sat down, and started working on Christmas cards. The phone rang- and I stood up--- as I got to the phone I felt something warm- and wrong right away. Brett was on the phone saying he was just leaving work. I quickly got him off the phone and ran to the bathroom. That is when I started to lose it! I was bleeding- bright red, and lots. I dealt with that- called him back told him to hurry and then called Lindsay to come and watch Danika.
Lindsay got there, and kept me calm until Brett got home. We left immediately for the hospital. Getting there at 6, I was worried we were in for a long night, and that I was losing the baby, what would happen etc. I went to the bathroom there around 6:30- and saw something that no expectant mother wants to see- some sort of sac. The nurse came in and told me it was a blood clot. What do I know- I freaked out thinking she just can't tell me that was the baby. (yes it was that big). I finally got in at 8. They did some blood work, and let Brett come in the room. We sat there freaking out until 10. I had gone to the bathroom since then, and the bleeding slowed down. At 10 the dr came in and explained they were going to have to do an internal exam to check my cervix. So we got ready for that.
The dr started the exam, had to clean up some blood, and finally saw that the cervix was CLOSED! Great news. So then he asked if for piece of mind we wanted an ultrasound- of course we did. So they booked one for Friday- took my IV cord out and let us go home.
Friday morning at 7am our phone rang- never a good sign- but this time it was. They had an opening at 10:30- so we didn't have to wait for the ultrasound until the afternoon. We got to the hospital and got to go right in. Brett and Danika waited in the waiting room while I got the Ultrasound.
They saw that the baby was fine. Baby was moving around so much that it was hard for the tech to get measurements. But when she did- she told me that the baby is measuring 3 days bigger than I told her I was! YAY! And the heart rate was 180!!! Danika's was 171 at this point, and according to old wives tales, it is a girl if over 140! So we will see if it works again.
They did find a blood clot at the end of the placenta. They told me it wasn't too much to worry about- but I will have to have follow up ultrasounds to see what happens. I also have to take it easy. I have looked into it and there are many different diagnosis' for this. I see my OB on thursday so I will ask him what I should do- but for now, I am taking it easy!
So that was our weekend! Fun hey! Good thing we are only having 2 babies- because who knows what would happen with a third!
Oh- our trip to visit my mom was great! And while relaxing this weekend, we put up the christmas stuff- more on that later!
